One of the long-time stalwart seedstock firms held their 34th sale in northwestern Colorado. These were high altitude PAP-tested bulls. This was a very well-balanced set of cattle. Herefords blended the best of local and Canadian bloodlines, while the Angus came from long-time proven lines like EXT and New Trend. It was a beautiful sunny day with a good crowd of commercial cattlemen. The many repeat customers were very active. Eagle Pass Ranch was fortunate to sneak in a couple of days of sunshine amongst an otherwise dreary fall to host their 2013 Fall Female Sale and Complete Angus Dispersal Oct. 24-25. A newly renovated sale barn at the ranch drew bidders from 17 different states for the two-day event. Eagle Pass Ranch bought back Lot 1, a purebred Angus bred heifer sired by S A V Bismarck 5682 for $20,000 and will donate the proceeds to help those affected by the recent blizzard in western South Dakota. Volume buyers this year were Scott Hamilton of Hitchcock, SD, with 106 head; Wall Ranch of Dupree, SD, with 33 head; and the Farlee Ranch of Dupree, SD, with 28 head.
