"Make It With Wool" winners' gallery
Last month, the winners of the 65th annual Make It With Wool (MIWW) contestants were chosen during the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI)/National Lamb Feeders Association Annual Convention. Now here is a presentation of the champions and their award-winning designs.
Adult Winner: Charlene Colon from Fayetteville, NC, was named the 2013 National MIWW Adult Winner for her three-piece ensemble inspired by Chanel Couture. As part of her winnings, Colon won an all-expense-paid trip to the national competition in San Antonio.
Senior Winner: Mallory Muntefering of Dimock, SD, was selected as the First Place Senior 2013 Wool Ambassador. Muntefering’s first-place winnings included a $1,500 scholarship from ASI Women for her full-length cashmere coat and pleated dress. The senior division was open to contestants ages 17 to 24.
Junior Winner: Kylie Manville of Valley Falls, KS, won the title of First Place Junior 2013 Wool Ambassador. In addition to other prizes, Manville’s winnings included a $1,000 scholarship from Pendleton Woolen Mills and a $500 scholarship from ASI Women for her versatile burgundy and black wool suit.
The junior division was open to youth ages 13 to 16.
Fashion/Apparel Design Winner: Jose Reyes of Houston, TX, won the Fashion/Apparel Design class with his women’s suit of wool and silk inspired by 1950’s styles and modeled by Monika Pham. Reyes’ winnings include a $1,000 scholarship for his winning outfit from the American Wool Council and an allexpense-paid trip to the national competition.
Senior First Runner-Up:
Jacob Worthington of Orem, UT, took Senior First Runner up with his two-piece suit consisting of a jacket and pleated pants.
Junior First Runner-Up:
Brittany Lippy of Manchester, MD, made Junior First Runner-Up with her semifitted, lined brown/blue tweed jacket and matching pants and vest. — WLJ
