It was a good, steady sale for this reputation program with range-raised, practicallydeveloped Polled Hereford and South Devon cattle for this 34th annual sale. Many long time repeat customers were in the seats to buy again. This was one of the most uniform groups of bulls yet from this program known for their length, thickness and performance with moderate birth weight, good maternal traits and soundness. The Felton Families held their 44th annual production sale this year again offering a growth, stout, rugged set of bulls selling to a wide area of the country. This operation is known for the practical no-nonsense way these cattle are developed and run. The bulls were developed on a primarily roughage ration showing good growth, muscle, and length with good performance. Cattlemen from across the country bid actively on these sound cattle. Ridder Hereford Ranch hosted a capacity crowd at their Annual Bull & Heifer Sale in their ranch sale barn on a beautiful February afternoon. Ridder’s Canadian and Line 1 North Star bloodlines were heavily sought after by buyers from 10 states. Ridder provided ease of birth rankings on all bulls, profit indexes on all heifers, and carcass ratings on the entire sale offering. Repeat customers noted the superior carcass ratings, top maternal traits, and outstanding disposition of their purchases. Featured offerings were yearlings including the 2013 Denver National Western Stock Show’s Division Champion Carload Bulls which averaged $9,975. Herd sires and range bulls alike, deep in quality and consistency backed by strong performance with every bull selling carrying a 50K DNA test for genetically enhanced EPDs. Also, there were several large sire groups with the Connealy Consensus and Hoover Dam sons being very popular. It was a rapid-fire event taking under three hours to complete, with very active strong bidding.
