CCA hosts 61st Mid-Winter Conference
The Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) will be hosting their 61st mid-winter meeting Jan. 17-18, 2012, in Denver, CO. This year’s meeting will combine CCA’s Legislative Luncheon and National Western Stock Show (NWSS) activities with steering committee meetings.
Is shaping state and national policy of importance to you? Would you like to receive the latest information impacting your bottom line as a producer? If so, join other cattlemen and women from around the state at CCA’s steering committee meetings on the mornings of Jan. 17 and 18 at the host hotel, the Crowne Plaza near Denver International Airport.
Topics of discussion will include: disease tracking framework, permit renewals and National Environmental Policy Act requirements, brand registration assessment, the Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Act proposed ruling, Colorado Ag Water Alliance activities, property tax after the 1293 Rule Making, and the list goes on.
Tuesday, Jan. 17, will start off with the following committees meeting from 8:30-10:30 a.m.: Animal Health/Brand & Theft, Membership/Public Relations, State Lands and Water.
Following CCA’s committee meetings on Tuesday, join fellow beef producers at the state capitol for the Legislative Leadership Forum and across the street at the Masonic Temple for the Legislative Luncheon. This is your opportunity to learn first-hand about agrelated bills and how they could affect your operation. It’s also the opportunity to visit with your legislators about upcoming bills and explain to them how those bills will affect your livelihood. The day will end with our President’s Reception and the CCA Foundation Recognition Banquet at the Crowne Plaza.
Wednesday, Jan. 18, will start with CCA’s Worker’s Compensation Meeting. Join Dana Foley from Pinnacol Assurance as he covers the Basics of First Aid from 7:00-8:00 a.m. Immediately following this meeting, the remaining committees will meet from 8:00-10:00 a.m.: Ag Policy & Labor/Tax & Credit, Beef Improvement/Cattle Marketing & Feeder, BLM/Forest Service Liaison/Federal Lands, Species/Game & Fish, and Private Property Rights/Resource Stewardship.
The rest of Wednesday, CCA will be attending NWSS as they host Colorado Beef Industry Day.
This year, CCA joins forces with NWSS to offer a new and improved 2012 Commercial Heifer Show and Sale. This year’s show features pens of 10 ungroomed replacement-quality females. After the judging, the females will be sold at auction to cattlemen looking to improve their herds.
The show will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Livestock Center Auction Arena with the sale at 2:30 p.m.
Stick around after the sale for the Cattlemen’s Reception, then head up the hill for the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association Rodeo and Colorado Beef Industry Appreciation Night.
