Arlo Stroing

Arlo Stroing, born Sept. 5, 1925, on Hill Street, Red Bluff, CA, to James and Addie Stroing, went to join the Lord on Dec. 27, 2011.

Arlo was a lifelong cattleman and resident of Tehama County. He lived on the same family ranch for 86 years in Red Bluff, as well as living on the 106-year-old Stroing family ranch in Westwood, CA.

He was a member and past president of the Tehama County Cattlemen’s Association (TCCA), state director for the California Cattlemen’s Association, Elks member, a member of Frontier Boys and was associated with various other community organi zations.

Arlo was also president of Tehama Co. Jr. Livestock Auction Committee for five years, was recognized by TCCA as Man of the Year in 1985 and was TCCA president in 1975-76. He worked as a foreman for the Tehama County Road Department before retiring in 1983.

Arlo is survived by spouse Faye Stroing of 65 years, married Feb. 16, 1946, in Reno, NV. He was predeceased by daughter Diana Minch, brother Jimmy Stroing, sister Lillian Richmond, brother Eldon Stroing and brother Marvin Stroing. Other surviving family members include daughter Connie Warren of Grants Pass, OR; grandson Jason Lesher (Nicole) of Grants Pass, OR; granddaughters Jacki Montgomery (Marty) of Red Bluff, CA, and Donna Mattila (Martin) of Red Bluff, CA; and great grandchildren Sylvia, Kristina, Nathan, Samantha and Addie; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services were scheduled at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, with a reception at the Elks Lodge.
