BALDY MAKER BULL
SALE Oct. 11, McArthur, CA 44 Angus bulls ....................$3,216 18 Hereford bulls ..................3,017 Auctioneer: Eric Duarte
An excellent sale was the result for Traynham Ranches and The Poplars Ranch, the two firms that make up the Baldy Maker sale. The strong offering drew a large crowd to the sale site at the fairgrounds in McArthur, with several new buyers on the seats. The Angus bulls were from Traynham Ranches, Eagle Point, OR, and the Herefords were the product of The Poplars Ranch, Silver Lake, OR. Both of these firms operate under a similar philosophy: Raise bulls that will work for the commercial cattleman. The bulls are run out and developed in tough country. The buyers seemed to like the way the bulls were conditioned and presented and they bid actively on them. Also on offer was a select group of commercial bred heifers that sold for $1,400 a head to Arlene
Guerin, Myrtle Point, OR. This was a very strong and solid sale with a good offering of bulls. TOPS—Angus: Traynham’s Total 1650, 1/1/09, by TC Total 410; to Arlene Guerin, Myrtle Point, OR, $6,200.
