The sale and purchase of the Bell Ranch located in northeastern New Mexico was closed on Aug. 17, 2010. This singular offering was comprised of 290,100 acres of contiguous deeded land, most of which is situated in San Miguel County about 40 miles north of Tucumcari, NM, and 150 miles east of Santa Fe, NM.

Knowledgeable sources indicate this is the largest single block of deeded land to sell in the western U.S. during the past 60 years.

This transaction completes the seller’s successful and admired 40-year commitment in carefully preserving and growing the classic ranching tradition possessed by this renowned and iconic land holding.

The buyer has indicated strong interest in maintaining and enhancing the Bell Ranch—established in 1824—as one of the most historic and admired cattle operations in the nation.

Two seasoned Rocky Mountain ranch brokers cooperated closely, bringing a combined 55 years of experience and reputable performance to this transaction: Bates, Sanders, Swan Land Company, representing the seller, and Ranch Marketing Associates, representing the buyer. — WLJ
