C. D. “Butch” Booker The first production bull sale of the season in the Northwest was held at the Shaw sale barn with a strong offering of full-aged Hereford bulls from Tim, Tina and Thomas Shaw. The bulls were in excellent sale condition and sported excellent performance numbers as well as carcass numbers. This sale has long been a reliable source of superior Hereford genetics for the trade area’s top commercial ranching firms. The seats were filled again this year with stockmen looking for those reliable Shaw genetics that have served them so well over the years. This was the 38th annual sale and, as has often been the case, the buyers’ list was loaded with repeat customers. This was a very good way to start the spring bull sale season in this area. Eric Duarte and Trent Stewart This was the 50th annual sale for this reputation consignment sale sponsored by the Klamath Falls Cattlemen’s Association. This sale has grown from a simple bull sale to an event that covers five days and includes everything from a first-class trade show to the bull sale, dog show, horse sale, ranch roping and ranch rodeo as well as goat branding and mutton busting for the kids. Prior to the bull sale, all of the bulls are sifted and graded and this year, those duties fell to Ron Anderson, Eagle Point, OR, John Flynn, Lakeview, OR, and John Taylor, Lakeview, OR. Breed champions are selected and graded for sale order. The sale this year was a strong event with lots of competitive bidding resulting in a very strong and successful sale. The ramrods for this year’s event included John Chapman, president, Nathan Jackson, vice president, Chanda Engel, secretary, and Randy
