Third annual Cattlemens Day scheduled at UNLs Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory

The third annual Cattlemen’s Day and Trade Show at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory (GSL) on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, will provide an update on beef and range research going on at GSL, said Rick Funston, University of Nebraska– Lincoln (UNL) Extension beef reproductive physiology specialist.

The program begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. Mountain time and adjourns at 3 p.m. Program sessions include: “Beef Cattle Research and Extension at GSL,” Don Adams, direc tor,

West Central Research and Extension Center (WCREC); “Range Research and Extension at GSL,” Jerry Volesky, range and forage specialist, WCREC; “Being an Advocate for the Beef Industry,” Dave Hamilton, Thedford, NE; “Producer Panel: Yearling Enterprise,” Homer Buell, Rose; Dave Hamilton, Thedford; Chip Ramsay, Ashby, NE; “Benefits of and Tips to Achieve a Short Calving Season,” Rick Funston, beef reproductive physiologist, WCREC; “Young Producer Panel: How Do We Get

More Young People Involved in the Beef Industry?” Jeremy Martin, Hershey; Jaclyn Wilson, Lakeside; Rosemary Anderson, Whitman, NE.
