The Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) Research & Education Foundation (NCR&EF) is seeking donations of steers for its annual Retail Value Steer Challenge feeding competition. This is the foundation’s primary fund-raiser, generating money for scholarships and education and research projects that benefit the Nebraska cattle industry.

Steers will be collected at Darr Feedlot near Cozad, NE, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 10. The competition seeks spring-born calves weighing 600-750 pounds. Participants can donate their own steer or purchase a steer for $700.

Steer donors have the opportunity to win cash prizes, claim statewide bragging rights for top feedlot performance, compete with other NC members, affiliates and supporters, and receive complete carcass data on their animal. NCR&EF welcomes steer donations by individuals, businesses, groups of individuals or businesses, and NC affiliates. Winners will be announced at the NC Midyear Conference in June.
