Polvorosa was the proprietor of Mission Ranch Liquors and walked to work every day for more than 20 years. He was particularly proud of all three of his children attending the local schools and all graduating from San Jose State University. After the kids were gone and starting families of their own, it was time for John and Dixie to start another new chapter. In 1997 they purchased a 60-acre riverfront ranch in Vernonia, OR, which became their “Camp Vernonia.” John and Dixie built many great memories and gained valuable friendships in their new community in addition to hosting an annual family reunion every Labor Day. Dixie passed away on Jan. 16, 2007, after celebrating more than 48 years of marriage together.
