Nebraska producers encouraged to apply for funding for branded products

On behalf of the Food Export Association of the Midwest USA (Food Export- Midwest), the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is reminding Nebraska suppliers of the start of the 2010 Branded Program year.

“The Branded Program enables Nebraska suppliers to potentially double their overseas marketing budgets, enabling them to gain new customers for their products,” said Stan Garbacz, the agricultural trade representative for NDA. “This is a cost-share program that will assist our Nebraska businesses promote their brand name food and agricultural products in foreign markets.”

The program, made possible through funds from USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service, will provide up to 50 percent cost reimbursement on certain eligible marketing and promotional endeavors, including: attending international trade shows, advertising, public relations, instore promotions, product demonstrations, product literature, freight cost for samples, package and label modification, and more.

“These marketing opportunities help companies remain competitive in the exporting industry and gain exposure for their brands in foreign countries,” said Garbacz.

Eligible companies can be reimbursed between $2,500 and $300,000 for eligible marketing opportunities. Over $300,000 is available to Nebraska participants annually.
