Minnesota to host National Red Angus Convention

The 2009 national convention of the Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) is headed north on Sept. 16-19 to the Shooting Star Casino and Event Center in Mahnomen, MN. Red Angus producers from across the nation and Canada will convene to handle association business, learn about advancements in the breed, and socialize with other Red Angus breeders.

Along with the regular business sessions, the convention will feature a Commercial Cattlemen’s Seminar and Ian Tyson concert at a reduced rate on Thursday, Sept. 17. Seedstock and commercial cattlemen alike will benefit from the seminar and learn how to increase the profitability of their calf crop. Dr. Greg Lardy, North Dakota State University beef cattle extension specialist, will address factors driving change in the beef industry, and Dr. Gerald Stokka, senior veterinarian for Pfizer Animal Health, will speak on factors driving health and profitability.
