Free oil and gas payment reporting webinar

A webinar is scheduled for March 25 from 9 to 10 a.m. to explain what landowners, tax preparers, and local governments need to know about Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting requirements and how to handle oil and gas payments.

“Participants also will learn what the IRS wants you to know about schemes, scams and cons,” says Andrew Swenson, North Dakota State University Extension Service farm management specialist. “Even those who use a tax preparer will want to know this information.”

This webinar will use ReadyTalk, which is the Small Business Administration’s multimedia training tool. ReadyTalk allows people to attend training from the convenience of their home or office at no cost. Participants must have a computer with access to the Internet and access to a telephone near the computer.

Participants will log onto a Web site to view the visual portion of the program. For the audio portion, participants will call a toll-free number to take part in a conference call with others.

To participate, go to http://sba.readytalk.com and enter the access code, which is 3087502. This should be done a few minutes before the presentation. For the audio portion of the webinar, call the toll-free number at 866/740-1260 and enter the same access code when instructed.

Registration is limited, so participation will be on a first-come, firstserved-basis. For additional information, contact michael.gal lagher@sba.gov. — WLJ
