The 14th Annual Ken Troutt Memorial Scholarship was selected at the Annual Cowman’s Classic All Breed Bull Sale on Feb. 21 at Spokane, WA. This year’s recipients were Mariah Mielke of Davenport, WA – 1st Runner Up ($250), and Julie Jeske of Royal City, WA – First Place ($500). Jeske was unable to attend and was represented by her grandfather, John Unruh. Both girls posted GPA’s of 4.0, along with many cattle and school activities. The presentation was made by Jerry York, Cowman’s Classic representative, on behalf of the consignors, management, and staff of the Cowman’s Classic All Breed Bull Sale. These scholarships are awarded each year to an enrolling college freshman from a family that has consigned or purchased bulls at this sale. Ken Troutt was a renowned auctioneer that had served this sale until his death. The scholarship money is generated by contributions and endowments. — WLJ
