Dallas Horton receives “Consultant of the Year” award

At their winter meeting in Denver, CO, the Academy of Veterinary Consultants, a national organization of beef cattle veterinarians, selected Dr. Dallas Horton as “Consultant of the Year.” The recipient is chosen by their peers and the award is given annually to a veterinarian who has dedicated their career to the improvement of animal health, new production technology, and the management practices of beef cattle.

Horton provided consulting services to feedlots in the U.S. and South Africa in prior years. He currently operates a ranch at Muddy Gap, WY, feedlots around Greeley and Fort Collins, CO, including a beef cattle research feedlot, and a seedstock operation, Leachman Cattle of Colorado.

Upon accepting the award, Dallas said, “Without the good help and support of my wife, Mary, my sons, my partners, and my great employees, this award would not have been given to me.” Pfizer Animal Health will provide a $2,000 scholarship to a veterinary student at the school of Horton’s choice in his honor. — WLJ
