Streamlined drought disaster process created
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack held a news conference last Wednesday laying out the new provisions and what areas it would affect. Vilsack pointed out that previous emergency provisions from the 2008 Farm Bill expired in September 2011, and with the extreme conditions of 2012, a new plan was necessary.
