Cattle feeding industry still feeling the squeeze
The number of cattle on feed as of Sept. 1 was reported at 9.9 million head by USDA. The inventory is 1 percent below last September, and the second lowest for the date in the past 10 years. Several states posted large year-over-year gains in on feed numbers with Colorado and South Dakota leading the way, both up 12 percent from September 2008.
