Vilsack ponders tougher COOL regulations
USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said last week he wants U.S. packers to adhere to a more strict interpretation of Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) laws. During a series of meetings scheduled last week, he told consumer groups that he favored a strict interpretation of COOL and that current plans for implementation did not meet that standard.
