Final rule on organic livestock practices published
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) published the final rule amending the National Organic Program (NOP), Organic Livestock and Poultry Practices on Jan. 19. The rule adds animal welfare provisions to the organic standards dictating how farmers must raise livestock and poultry, including during transport and slaughter.
