BEAR MOUNTAIN ANGUS RANCH
April 9-10, Melba, ID
418 Lots $3,014
Auctioneers: C. D. "Butch" Booker and Rick Machado
Sale Manager: American Angus Hall of Fame
This sale was billed as the Complete and Total
Opportunity Sale and it closed out the Idaho chapter for Bear Mountain Angus
Ranch. The Stoller family, Gary and Davy along with their son Brian, had
established themselves as a reliable and dependable source of current Angus
genetics in the trade area of Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and surrounding states.
Their dedication to improving their bull offering and to staying abreast of the
fast-changing Angus scene made them a favorite of many of the West’s top
commercial cattle outfits. Their bull sales always attracted solid buying crowds
and their female sales caught the attention of the industry. Change is constant
and with the closing of the Idaho chapter and the new chapter being opened with
the move to Palisades, NE, the Bear Mountain program will continue and the
current trade area’s loss will be the new trade area’s gain as Nebraska gains a
wonderful family and a solid Angus program. TOPS: Bear Mtn Barbara 2112,

The first major offering of Wagyu genetics from
Lone Mountain was received extremely well by Wagyu breeders. The marbling
qualities these cattle can offer has been identified and many commercial
producers are starting to see the niche marketing advantages to this limited
pool of genetics. Bob and Mary Estrin took an absolute leap of faith when they
got into the Wagyu business and are now starting to carve their place in the
beef producing industry. This sale was a one of a kind and found an
exceptionally strong market which was established on that day only and demand
exceeded expectations. Registered buyers from Australia, Mexico, Canada and from

Midland Test notched their 46th annual test and bull sale this year, again
testing a multitude of bulls from different breeds in addition to the myriad of
data and information Midland measures. This year, they added a feed efficiency
test on the part of the bulls. Not surprisingly, it is drawing a lot of
interest. The bulls offered for sale this year were impressive from end to end,
offering a lot of genetic combinations and yet, with a certain uniformity of
kind and performance. Quality and consistency were quite evident. As always,
there is something for everyone. Purebred breeders, AI bull studs, and
commercial operations studied hard and made selections. The bulls sold
throughout the country, quite a few in volume numbers to strong commercial

THE ROSE RANCH RED ANGUS SALE
March 28, Snowville, UT
60 Bulls $1,891
Auctioneer: Lynn Weishaar
The breeding program and management was the same at the Red Angus purebred
establishment, however, new ownership had just recently purchased the ranch and
cattle. New owner Chris Dinsdale, Sterling, CO, was on hand to greet everyone
and his outgoing personality was evident. Prior to the sale, Dinsdale announced
that he would donate 5 percent of the sale gross to the community for use as
they saw fit, a very generous offer. Manager Kent Robbins had the bulls looking
good and they were well presented, making for a good, solid sale. This is
definitely a program that handles their bulls just the way a commercial rancher
would and the result is a set of bulls that are ready for service in any
condition. TOPS: MRR Homerun 13TA, 3/10/07, by LCC Major League A502M; to Justin

WBCIA BULL TEST SALE
April 5, Riverton, NE
64 Black Angus bulls $2,122
29 Red Angus bulls $2,506
Auctioneer: Ty Thompson
Robert and Paige Pingetzer once again hosted the 23rd WBCIA Bull Test Station
Sale. The bulls appeared in excellent condition and the quality of the offering
looked to be very uniform in their character traits. Due to higher than usual
corn prices, the ration was changed slightly this year and yet, as Bob Pingetzer
stated in the sales catalog and at sale time, they feed for a 3-25 per day gain
and yet the bulls performed above that. This he felt was a reflection of the
quality of the genetics being brought to the station by the producer
participants in the test. The temperature of the day was in the low to middle
50s, however the wind was a little on the raw side. The sale started with an
awards program which recognized the producers exhibiting the top performing
sires in the test. Auctioneer Ty Thompson conducted a snappy sale throughout the
sale order. TOPS—Black Angus: Willwood BiFocal 7664, 1/29/07, by Mitty In Focus;
